  • What can contribute to a high water bill besides faucet or pipe leaks?

The first course of action you should take is to examine your plumbing and fixtures to ensure the abnormal consumption is not caused by a water leak. According to the EPA, 10% of homes have leaks that waste 90 gallons of water or more a day. Leaking faucets, toilets, shower heads, or other water-using devices may waste water. It is important to stop these leaks because they will cause an increase in your monthly water bill. Call Master Repair Plumbing today to work with experienced plumbing contractors!

  • What is the difference between gas and electric water heaters?

What is the difference between gas and electric water heaters? The difference between gas and electric water heaters is that gas water heaters use the burning of natural gas to heat and electric water heaters heat water by using electric elements. Gas water heaters tend to be less energy efficient and electric are more cost-effective. Gas water heaters have a much faster recovery rate. For example, larger bathtubs that need to be filled, are filled quicker and heat faster with gas than electric. Call Master Repair Plumbing for your water heater repair or replacement by an expert plumbing contractor.

According to plumbing license law, the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE) is responsible for issuing licenses, registrations, and endorsements. • Why do my plumbing and drainpipes rattle frequently?

This may be due to unsecured water lines. The lines are in contact with the wood floor joists. It’s a simple fix, but only if the lines are easy to access. Use plastic pipe hangers and place them between the water lines and joists.

Another cause of the rattling may be a defective pressure-reducing valve.

  • My faucets drip a bit occasionally. Do they need to be replaced?

They probably don’t need to be replaced. If the drips are coming from the spout, replacing the seats and springs or the ball valve could solve the problem.

If the drips are coming from the supply lines underneath, try tightening the fittings. If the drops are from the faucet itself, a replacement may fix it. Discuss this with one of our plumbers.

  • My water meter is spinning – even though I’ve checked the faucets, the toilets, and the outside hose bib. I can’t find any leaks. What’s going on?

If the water sources don’t seem to be at fault, look at your meter box and examine it for leaks. Next, look at the water heater’s overflow pan to see if it’s no longer holding water. Or, the tank or the relief valve might be leaking. If that’s the case, replace it. Finally, check the yard for dark green spots featuring grass that’s wetter and richer than the rest of the lawn. If you find something like that, there may be a main water line leak. It should be replaced.
